This is a guide for playing as Wendy , the Bereaved. It will give a general summary of her strengths and weaknesses, and will also explain some of the most common and effective ways to utilize her twin sister, Abigail. Preferring to employ elaborate tactics and strategy in combat, Wendy is a unique character whose gameplay often involves fighting large-scale battles into the darkest hours of the night. One of her more easily overlooked strengths is a lower sanity drain debuff from monsters and the slow drain of dusk and night. Night time can wear her sanity down eventually, but it will take much longer than with other characters.

Abigail is the Ghost of Wendy 's dead twin sister. She can be summoned with Abigail's Flower , Wendy's exclusive starting item. Abigail will defend herself and Wendy against attacking Mobs , and will attack anything that Wendy attacks even if Wendy cancels the attack. Abigail will despawn into her flower if she loses all of her health. Abigail does more damage during dusk , and significantly more damage during night. She has Health , and when damaged she slowly regenerates at a rate of 1 per second. When her hit points are low, she will have a sad look.

Wendy has a morbid personality; she always relates everything even herself to death and how depressing life is. Thanks to her personality she loses less Sanity in the Dark or when near insanity auras, giving her an easier time with managing Sanity. She can summon the Ghost of her late sister Abigail to assist her in combat. To make up for this, Wendy herself deals less damage in both melee and ranged combat. Abigail gives Wendy a more 'passive' play style, letting her sister deal with most threats and staying away from danger.

I am not afraid, but the Darkness of this world is unfamiliar and filled with exquisite terrors. Just a few hours ago we were hiding in the closet as Mother tore through the house on one of her drunken rampages. That Darkness was comforting. The stale smell of old clothes and mothballs soothing our nerves. But then the voice came.
